SK Hynix showcases 40Gbps ultra high speed GDDR7 graphics memory

Samsung showcased its latest 32Gbps GDDR7 memory at the GTC 2024 exhibition, while Hynix is developing a higher speed 40Gbps memory module. It is reported that the new generation GDDR7 memory will provide higher capacity options, including 16Gb and 24Gb styles (corresponding to 2GB and 3GB of graphics memory capacity, respectively). According to the specifications released by the JEDEC organization, the speed of GDDR7 memory is expected to be further increased to 48Gbps in the future, and the capacity will also reach 64MB (8GB), which will bring about a huge leap in storage capacity.
Meanwhile, SK Hynix also showcased a DDR5 MCR DIMM memory module with a transmission rate of up to 8800MT/s, with a maximum capacity of 64MB and a voltage of 1.1V. The NVIDIA RTX50 series graphics cards, which are expected to be launched by the end of the year, will be the first products to use GDDR7 graphics memory. This series of graphics cards will adopt a 28Gbps graphics memory speed and reserve over 32Gbps of acceleration space.
